Most of the people on this planet has a Persistent Fascination towards Success. We praise successful companies, we read success stories and we adore successful people.
From the stories we hear and people we interact, we tend to believe society listens to any non sense spoken by a successful person and doesn't care for unsuccessful. The conditions worsen for the Failures. This to an extent is very much true. So we believe that success attributes Pride, Power, Prestige and the most important thing in the world - 'Happiness'.
From all the stories of success we hear we tend to create certain attributes which cause Success.
The attributes such as Hard work, consistency, luck etc we believe will give us Success.
If that is the case whoever has these attributes should be Successful. But that is not the case in real life. We tend to reason or logic from the stories only after success has been achieved.
We are used to find out the logic out of every situation and forget the very fact as Osho said 'Life has no fucking logic and life doesn't listen to your logic'.
When the very logic that says one should be successful in life has vanished then 'Why should we be successful?'
May be because Success proves that we are something......
Why should we prove we are something?
May be proving we are something in the society and that we are great gives us happiness......
And I promise you - 'Happiness is a state of being and Success has nothing to do with it'.
As a matter of fact Success might give you temporary happiness but will kill happiness as a state of being in long term with all the logic and reasons that you give yourself after the success.
Probably we have taken the very meaning of Success in a wrong way.
Whenever you want to do anything in life, hell a lot of fears arise. Fear of failure, fear of ridicule, fear of non-acceptance etc. Overcoming all the issues and doing what you want is not a small thing. After doing 'whatever you want to do', you will expect an outcome.
I personally think whatever the outcome may be, the outcome of that is not 'The Success' but the very act of doing whatever you want to do itself is SUCCESS.
This is what Veda Vyas in his epic story of Mahabharata through his charismatic character named Sri Krishna said: 'Without being attached to the fruits of activities, one should act as a matter of duty, for by working without attachment one attains the Supreme'.

hey nice thoughts....:))

ReplyDeleteAgain, nice thought Pradeep. I would just like to add some missing information to it. First of all SUCCESS is not only the act of doing whatever you want to do but creating what you want the way you want it to be. It is, in fact, a JOURNEY.
ReplyDeleteAnd, like all journeys, your ship will sail through calm waters and buck in storms. If you stay on course, continually upgrading your navigational instruments and adjusting to feedback, you will reach your port of dreams.
Success, then, is a PROCESS. It is an incessant refinement of strategy until something finally works.
Success starts with GOAL SETTING, and then goal setting is followed by ACTION. Neither your goal setting theory nor your actions have to be perfect. A key to success is to start anywhere; over time, your VISION will clear and your actions improve.
I think SUCCESS, ultimately, is about being fully YOU!
You are here on this planet to express your potential. EXPRESS IT.
You are here to discover a life worth living and a purpose worth fulfilling. The entire universe will benefit from your success-because everything is interlinked. A goal oriented person is an evolutionary force in motion.
There is Poem in Sanskrit. I am translating into English:
“Spring has past, summer has gone, and winter is here. But the song which I meant to sing remains unsung. I spent my days stringing and unstringing my instrument” (Hey. It’s great to do whatever you want to do but what’s the use if it doesn’t fulfil the purpose. So, I earnestly feel that BEING SUCCESSFUL means BEING PURPOSE DRIVEN)
I think to have more clarity on what actually SUCCESS is; we should interview an old guy (I mean practised guy) who is unsuccessful in his life.
Then I think we probably conclude that the so called non sense spoken by a successful person is NOTHING LESS THAN THE TRUTH.

"...forget the very fact as Osho said 'Life has no fucking logic and life doesn't listen to your logic'."
ReplyDeleteWhy did you call that statement a "fact"? I mean who are we to judge if it is a fact or not. Osho may be right and even if i approve Osho, i wouldn't say it is a FACT. its just my opinion that it MAY be a fact.
"Probably we have taken the very meaning of Success in a wrong way"- Yes we did.
"I personally think whatever the outcome may be, the outcome of that is not 'The Success' but the very act of doing whatever you want to do itself is SUCCESS" - hmm..not quite so i feel dude.
If you do whatever you want to do with your full heart and soul, then you will attain success(relative to others) and if you have the thirst , you wouldn't stop but continue to set a benchmark for others. But the very act of doing what you want to do doesn't mean success as one can start a task but can give up in the middle achieving nothing.
"'Without being attached to the fruits of activities, one should act as a matter of duty, for by working without attachment one attains the Supreme'." .
I have pondered over this statement for quite sometime in the past but i couldn't get it quite right. I still don't...
Remember when we prepared for our IIT-JEE exams, we studied to crack the exam. We had a motive, a desired result in our mind and did our preps. As a matter of fact any exams or interviews one faces, one should have a desire to see its end. that desire will push you all along. If you don't dream and desire, may be you will retire getting nothing..
I respect Gita but it doesn't mean i have to take its words for granted. or may be i am not wise enough to grasp its inner meaning. (atleast for this sloka )

Thought provoking..
